We use a holistic approach to target youth impacted by traumatic events. This includes youth identified as victims of various traumas including parental neglect due to substance abuse; sex-trafficking; home and/or food insecurity; and physical and emotional abuse.

Our therapeutic approach lowers symptoms and other risks that could lead to adult mental and physical impairment. Our philosophy is that the mind and body should not be thought of as separate.  This theory is supported by established research that proves poor mental health can be a detrimental to physical health. 

Since 2006, we have provided hundreds of youth with life skill tools that has positively influenced their overall health routines. More than 76-percent of our youth participants have reported improved attitudes, and 82-percent have documented healthier coping behaviors.

How did you overcome peer pressure in school? I’m 16 years old an incarcerated because of peer pressure. Does dancing influence you to be positive? Thank you.

Dear W,

Hey! Before I answer your question I just want to say thank you and I truly wish I could meet you! I’m also 16 years old and yes I have endured peer pressure before by people I use to call my “friends” or people that I use to be close with. Peer pressure comes in many ways, and let me just say do not let ANYONE make a decision or force you to do something you don’t want to do. That’s where you have to be strong and say the simple word no. Give no explanation but the simple word no. I use to have such trouble with saying no and just basically standing up for myself, but dance helped me build toughness and power within myself, and honestly with any problem I have I turn to dance. Whatever you’re going through I know for a fact that you will get through it! Keep dancing and keep that mind strong! Don’t let anyone get in the way of your path and where you want to go in life. If you want to dance then dance! If you want to do something else then do it! Don’t let peer pressure and people’s actions stop your flow or block your blessings! I hope this helped a little, and like I said I wish I could meet you! You sound like a great person. Thank you so much for writing me.
